Public Bodies

Amenity Societies, such as English Heritage, where Brian worked as a consultant building surveyor, advising on and supervising works along with the preparation of specifications for maintenance and restoration works on their stock in the East Midlands. Including Kirby Hall, Bolsover Castle, and
Wrest Park.

Local Planning Authorities, Brian worked as a consultant conservation officer at a number of Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire councils. Advising, commenting on and
dealing with Listed Building Consent applications and general and specific technical advice relating
to historic and listed building conservation and restoration. Including the preparation of the
photographic record for the preparation of a Cambridgeshire council’s, Buildings At Risk Register.

Property Developer (Ark Construction), a repeat client for over 8 years including the successful
sensitive conversion of a Grade II listed 19th Century shoe factory into a mixed use development of
six residential units and three commercial units without detracting from the character or significance
of the subject building.

Architects working with architects and conservation architects as part of the project team,
providing expert technical advice on building restoration projects. Including the preparation of
heritage statements, statements of significance, historic assessment reports and the discharging of conservation based conditions on both planning permission and Listed Building Consent
applications.

Properties include a number of farmhouse renovations and residential conversions of outlying
barns.

Building Contractors working with and for builders, providing expert advice on traditional construction methods and materials for historic building restoration and conservation.
Properties include 17th Century farmhouse restoration and 18th Century Manse.

Private home owners working with home owners, providing a professional, yet friendly, personable service to guide the property owner through the planning legislation in order to achieve a successful conclusion to an alteration or extension project on a listed or historic building.

properties. Including the renovation and restoration of a 11th Century Priory which was converted
